Every two years our guild makes a quilt to raise money for local charities and to further the craft of quilting for our guild. Starting in January we got together after guild meetings to discuss design options for the quilt. Once agreed to by the guild membership, fabric selection began. Several of us met at Patchwork Angels (a local quilt shop) and worked out the colors for the log cabin base blocks. After the April and May meetings we made the log cabin blocks using the paper piecing technique. The fun part was peeling off all the paper foundations. During June, the quilt design commitee worked on the applique flower designs, made kits and gave them out in July for several of the members to applique. They are just starting to get finished and should be ready prior to our first guild meeting of the 2010-2011 guild year in September.Friday, August 13, 2010
